On the early evening of October 23, 2012, the owner of a Honda Civic returned to his Roxbury apartment complex parking lot to discover the vehicle missing. He then contacted the Boston Police Department to report the theft: the Police had the victim file a stolen vehicle report.

The Boston Police entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Boston and Milton Police Departments picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack computers, the officers tracked and quickly located the stolen Honda, parked and abandoned just off of Blue Hill Avenue in the Milton-Hyde Park line. The recovering officers had the vehicle towed from the scene for safekeeping until the victim could be notified of the recovery.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic on April 28, 1998 at the Herb Chambers Boston-Honda Dealership.
