Norwood Police Use LoJack to Recover BMW 750 Stolen from Waltham Auto Repair Shop

On October 13, 2012, the owner of a BMW 750 contacted the Waltham Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from an auto repair shop on Prospect Street, where it was being serviced. The shop owner had contacted the vehicle owner to alert him of the theft.
Waltham Police arrived on the scene and verified that the vehicle was not on the property, and had the BMW’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
A short while later, officers from the Norwood Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen BMW on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the stolen vehicle to a lot near Central Chrysler/Buick on the Boston Providence Highway. There, they found the stolen vehicle unoccupied and undamaged. The Waltham Police Department was notified of the recovery and they in turn, notified the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the BMW 750 on April 29, 1995 as a Massachusetts Direct Sale.
