LoJack Helps Massachusetts Police with Recovery of Stolen Dodge Caravan, Located Undamaged

On the morning of October 25, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Dodge Caravan discovered the vehicle missing from her apartment complex parking lot on Lenox Street in Lawrence, where she had parked it the night before. The owner contacted the Lawrence Police Department and reported the vehicle stolen.

 The Lawrence Police verified the theft and entered the Dodge’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the minivan.

A short while later, troopers assigned to the Governor’s Auto Theft Unit and officers with the Wilmington Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Dodge on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. While on patrol on the west side of Lowell, the troopers began following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers. The troopers tracked the vehicle to the Wilmington/Lowell border, and quickly located the abandoned Dodge Caravan parked on Andover Street in Wilmington. The vehicle did not appear to have sustained any damage as a result of the theft; the troopers had the vehicle towed from the recovery scene for safekeeping until the owner could be notified.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Caravan on April 25, 2006 at the Harr Toyota Dealership in Worcester, Massachusetts.
