LoJack Early Warning Alerts Owner to Theft of Ford F-350 — Recovered by Miami-Dade Police

On Wednesday morning, October 11, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck received an Early Warning Alert from LoJack’s Command Center that their truck had been moved without their authorization. The owner went outside of his home, discovered that his truck was missing, and contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report the theft.
The responding officer verified the theft and had the Ford’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup truck.
Later that morning, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen pickup truck on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in his patrol car. Following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen, the officer, along with backup, located the vehicle parked abandoned with ignition damage in the 21900 block of S.W. 104th Court. The vehicle was recovered, released to the owner at the scene, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford F-350 pickup truck on February 11, 2006 at Miami Postal Credit Union, Miami, Florida, and has been protecting it ever since.
