Officers Use LoJack to Quickly Recover Toyota Camry Stolen in Denver

On September 13, 2012, the owners of a 2003 Toyota Camry contacted the Denver Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. Denver Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota. LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, an investigator with the East Metro Auto Theft Task Force (EMATT), picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Camry with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that was installed in his patrol vehicle. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety.
Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the investigator tracked the vehicle to a multi-level parking structure. The vehicle, valued at $9,300, was recovered undamaged.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota in June 2003 at the owner’s request at Burt Toyota.
