LoJack Helps Miami-Dade Officers Recover Yamaha Motorcycle Stolen in Hialeah, One Arrested

On Tuesday afternoon, the owner of a 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle contacted the Hialeah Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Hialeah Police verified the theft and had the Yamaha’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle.

Later that afternoon, an officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Yamaha on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking computer (PTC). Following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen, the officer, along with backup, located the vehicle in the 11400 block of 47th Terrace in the Kendall area of Miami, Florida. The officers observed a suspect moving the motorcycle to the back of a house, detained the suspect, and ultimately arresting him. The vehicle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle on July 9, 2008 at Motorsports of Delray in Delray Beach, Florida and has been protecting it ever since.
