Cobb County Officers Recover Stolen Jaguar, Suspect Apprehended by K-9 Unit After Foot Chase

On August 4, 2012, the owner of a Jaguar X-Type contacted the Cobb County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home while they were at work. Cobb County Police verified the theft and entered the Jaguar’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, an officer with the Cobb County Police picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Jaguar on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers from Cobb County and the Goergia State Patrol tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex, where the officers observed a suspect in the stolen car.

 The suspect caught sight of the police as they drove into the complex, and ran behind the complex. After a short foot chase and the assistance of a K-9 Unit, the suspect was arrested and charged with the theft of the vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Jaguar in April of 2001 at Nalley Jaguar in Roswell, Georgia.
