On August 10, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Honda Accord contacted the Gwinnett County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home during the early morning. The Gwinnett County Police verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, a Gwinnett County Police officer on regular patrol picked up the Honda’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to a side street, where he located the abandoned vehicle in excellent condition.

The officers thought that the vehicle may have been parked there until it could be moved on to another location.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2012 Honda Accord in October of 2011 at the Honda Mall of Georgia in Buford, Georgia.
