On July 25, 2012, the owner of a Chevrolet Blazer contacted the Tulsa Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from the 200 block of N. Garnett Road in Tulsa. The Tulsa Police verified the theft and entered the Chevy’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activates the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, pilots with the Tulsa Police Department’s Air Support Unit flying over the city picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Chevy Blazer on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. Following directional signals and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the pilots tracked the stolen vehicle to the 9700 block of South Mingo Road in Tulsa.

The stolen Chevy Blazer, which had been taken in an armed robbery/carjacking, was observed in a parking lot of apartments near that location. Tulsa Police ground units were brought into the area, where they located the stolen Blazer with the assistance of the flight officers overhead. The unoccupied stolen vehicle was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevy Blazer on September 16, 1994 at Maroone Chevrolet.
