Miami Gardens Police Make 2nd Stolen Vehicle Recovery in One Day, Thanks to LoJack

On Tuesday morning, July 3, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office’s Dania Beach District to report the motorcycle stolen from his home during the previous night. Broward County deputies verified the theft and had the Yamaha’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle.

A short while later, a Miami Gardens Police Department officer, who had just located a stolen Cadillac Escalade earlier that day, picked up the silent LoJack homing signal emanating from the stolen motorcycle on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). Following the audible and signal strength cues on the LoJack computer, the officer, along with backup, located the motorcycle in the backyard of an abandoned house in the 16300 block of N.W. 24th Avenue. The motorcycle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle on December 1, 2009 by Rick Case Cycles, Davie, Florida and has been protecting it ever since.
