Maryland Police Recover Honda Motorcycle Stolen in Alexandria, VA Minutes Earlier

On July 10, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle contacted the Fairfax County Police Department to report that the motorcycle was stolen from the 4600 block of Southland Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia. Fairfax County Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.

Three minutes after the LoJack transponder was activated, officers from the Greenbelt Police Department in Maryland picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 9100 block of Edmondson Road in the Greenbelt area of Maryland. There, the officers located the stolen Honda. The motorcycle was recovered by the police and returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda motorcycle in July of 2008 at Motorcycle Factory Inc. in Woodbridge, Virginia.
