Maryland Police Using LoJack Safely Recover Yamaha Motorcycle Stolen in VA

On July 9, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle contacted the Fairfax County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 8500 block of Enochs Drive in Lorton, Virginia. Fairfax County Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Yamaha.
A short while later, officers from the Prince Georges County Police Department in Maryland picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Yamaha on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 6100 block of Iveyridge Court in the Upper Marlboro area of Maryland. There, the officers located the stolen Yamaha. The motorcycle was recovered by the police and returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Yamaha motorcycle in August of 2007 at Atlantic Cycle and Power in White Plains, Maryland.
