Stolen Ford Pickup Quickly Recovered by Colorado Springs Officers Using LoJack

On May 19, 2012, the owners of a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Colorado Springs officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck. LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their police vehicles. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety.
Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 2000 block of LaSalle Street. The truck was quickly recovered and returned to the grateful owners.
