LoJack System Helps Cocoa Beach Police Department Recover Stolen Caterpillar Skid Steer

The owner of a 2019 Caterpillar Skid Steer contacted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to report their Skid Steer stolen from their job site.  The Brevard County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Caterpillar.

A short while later a ground unit from Brevard County, along with an aviation unit picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Caterpillar with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, the deputies, along with members from the auto theft task force tracked the vehicle to the 6000 block of US 1, where the Caterpillar was located.   

The Caterpillar, although being partially concealed from view in a stand of trees and bushes, the skid steer was tracked by directional cues from the LoJack® System leading deputies’ right to the Caterpillar for a quick recovery.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Caterpillar skid steer in February 2019 as a Commercial Installation.
