LoJack System Helps Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Recover Stolen GMC Yukon One in Custody

The owner of a 2001 GMC Yukon contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report her vehicle stolen from in front of her residence in the 5700 block of Judson.  The owner had gone out and started her GMC and left it running and unsecured while going back into the residence.  When she returned she found that the GMC had been stolen so she notified police.   

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.

Six minutes later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of a weekly rental motel where they found the GMC occupied by a male.  The officers were able to safely take the male into custody and recover the GMC.  The GMC was recovered and returned back to the owner.  The driver of the stolen GMC was arrested and taken to jail for the theft of the GMC. 

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Yukon in December 2003 at Peninsula GMC, Torrance, California.
