LoJack System Helps Phoenix Police Department Recover Stolen Freightliner Water Truck Two in Custody

A construction company contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that someone had cut the lock on the secured fenced area at the construction site and stole a 2006 Freightliner 2000-gallon water truck sometime during the past few days. The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Freightliner.

A short while later officers from the Scottsdale Police Department, Phoenix Police Department and deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Freightliner with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and deputies tracked the vehicle that was mobile from the area of 40th Street and Bell Road to Cave Creek area. 

The Maricopa County Sheriff deputies and the Phoenix police officers located the stolen Freightliner approximately forty miles from where it was stolen from, parked near Primrose Path and Mule Train Road in Cave Creek.  The vehicle was occupied and two suspects were taken into custody without incident.  Phoenix Police Department auto theft detectives conducted the investigation and recovered the truck in good condition.  The Freightliner was processed for evidence and later returned to the construction company. 

The LoJack® System was installed in the Freightliner Water Truck in June 2007, by Commercial Sales.
