The owner of a 2015 Ford F150 pickup contacted the Austin Police Department to report his vehicle stolen.  The owner parked his vehicle and left his keys inside a backpack that was inside his vehicle.  When he returned to his vehicle he found it missing.

The Austin Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford pickup.

A short while later deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the stolen Ford pickup to Ben White and Interstate 35, where they found it abandoned in a parking lot.  The Ford pickup was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford pickup in June 2015 at Leif Johnson Ford in Austin, TX.
