LoJack System Helps NYPD recover a 2006 Nissan Sentra

The owner of a 2006 Nissan Sentra called the Nassau Police Department to report his vehicle stolen.. He had parked his car while he was making a delivery; unfortunately, he made the mistake of leaving the keys in the car and the motor running. When he came out he found his vehicle missing. Apparently, some opportunist saw him leave his vehicle running, jumped in, and took off with the vehicle. This was in Elmont NY, confines of the 5th precinct. He immediately reported the theft to the Nassau County Police, upon arrival of the Police; they took a written report and entered the Nissans information into state and federal crime computers, which automatically activates the LoJack transponder that is hidden in the Nissan. This was done both seamlessly and automatically without any additional notifications.

Once this was done the vehicle put out a silent signal that enabled police with LoJack equipped tracking devices to track the vehicle. After a short while the signal was picked up by the Queens South Auto Larceny Unit in Queens NY, confines of the 105 precinct. Following the audible and directional signals on their Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in squad cars and aircraft, the officers tracked and located the vehicle in a residential section parked. Upon a closer visual inspection of the vehicle, they found the operator sleeping behind the wheel. They immediately took the suspect into custody without incident, which leads to the old saying “you snooze you lose”.

The owner was notified and was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, and without damage. Saying he was lucky that when he bought his vehicle the LoJack unit was previously installed.

The LoJack unit was installed in the Nissan Sentra in July 2006 at Bay Ridge Nissan Brooklyn, N.Y.

The value of the Nissan was approximately $7200.00

D decides to stake the unoccupied vehicle out. They staked the vehicle out for a short while, when no one returned for the vehicle, they took it into custody.

The vehicle was recovered with no damage, the owner was notified and he was elated that his vehicle was recovered, especially with no damage…

LoJack unit was installed on January, 6, 2000 at Sandy Springs Toyota Atlanta Georgia.

The value of the vehicle was approximately $5,000.00.
