The
operator of a construction company truck contacted the Denver Police Department
to report that the truck assigned to him, a Ford F-250, stolen from his residence.
A police officer verified the theft and had the
vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated
the LoJack® System concealed in the ¾ ton Ford.
Just twenty-six minutes after the entry and activation the first of several officers
from multiple law enforcement jurisdictions (UCD Anschutz PD, Aurora PD, Denver
PD, ADCOM, JeffCom911 and Thornton PD) were all picking up the silent LoJack
signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs)
that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, Denver police officers from District Five tracked the stolen truck to the 102 block of East 45th Avenue. When the officers arrived the vehicle was found to be unoccupied. It was recovered and returned to the owners.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-250 in November 2005 at O’Meara Ford Center in Northglenn, CO. at the request of the current owners.
