LoJack® System Helps Albuquerque Police Department Recover a Stolen Cadillac Escalade

The owner of a 2003 Cadillac Escalade contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac Escalade.
Within an hour of the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Cadillac with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Interstate 40 and Pennsylvania.
As the officer made visual contact with the Cadillac, the offender took off at a high rate of speed. Rather than engaging in a risky pursuit the officer elected to track the Cadillac from a safe distance. Through the officer’s diligence the Cadillac was tracked to the area of Montgomery and Julie. Upon getting closer to the signal the officer determined the Cadillac was parked in an underground parking structure. The Cadillac was not in plain view from the street and was observed backed into the parking stall concealing the license plate. All of these attempts to hide the stolen Cadillac were foiled by outstanding police work and excellent use of the LoJack PTC.
The Cadillac Escalade was safely recovered and will be returned to the owner. The Cadillac was processed for evidence at the recovery scene and will hopefully generate leads to the offender.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade in March 2003 at Cadillac West of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.
