LoJack System Helps Tulare Police Department Recover Honda Civic within Minutes of Activation and Arrest the Suspect

The owner of this Honda contacted the Delano Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence during the night. The Delano Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
Less than twenty minutes after the LoJack was activated, an officer with the Tulare Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to a convenience store near Tulare and K streets in downtown Tulare. The officer located the vehicle parked in the parking lot with a female adult seated in the passenger seat. Moments later, an adult male walked out of the store and approached the vehicle. He then spotted the officers vehicle and tried to escape on foot. Officers gave pursuit and took the male into custody a short time later. The male was identified as the suspect in the theft. He was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. The identity of the female was verified and she was released without charges.
The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in this Honda in October 2010 at Galpin Honda in San Fernando, California.
