The owners of a 2011 GMC Terrain contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from a mechanic shop in the 6800 block of Speedway Blvd. The owners had dropped off the GMC to get it repaired and it was supposed to take two weeks. After two weeks the owner’s attempted to contact the shop but the phone had been disconnected. The owners went to the shop and found that it had been closed and their GMC was nowhere to be found so they contacted the police.
Las
Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and
federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.
Thirteen minutes later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked
up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking
Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues
from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential
neighborhood in the 2900 block of Du Barry Manor where GMC was found
unoccupied. The GMC was recovered and
towed for safekeeping
The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Terrain in October 2010 at Auto
Nation GMC, Las Vegas, Nevada.
