LoJack® System Helps New Mexico Auto Theft Task Force Recover Stolen Nissan Maxima Two in Custody

The owner of a 2004 Nissan Maxima contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Maxima.
Shortly after the activation, members with the New Mexico Auto Theft Task Force (New Mexico State Police and Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Units) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Maxima with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover vehicles. The ATTF picked up the LoJack signal in the area of Interstate 25 and Rio Bravo.
The ATTF members tracked the Maxima to an apartment building yard in the area of 4600 Broadway SE. Surveillance was established on the Maxima which resulted in the observation of two miscreants attempting to “strip” valuable parts from the vehicle. When it was safe to do so, the ATTF members swooped in on the unsuspecting thieves and safely took them into custody. The owner of the Maxima was notified of the recovery and the thieves were relocated to the Metropolitan Detention Center.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Maxima in September 2003 at Midway Nissan in Phoenix, Arizona.
