The owners of a 2001 Mercedes reported to DeKalb County Police their vehicle stolen. Once DeKalb Police verified the theft, and entered the vehicle’s information into state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the hidden LoJack concealed in the Mercedes.

Within minutes of the vehicle, being entered as stolen several Police jurisdictions picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in their vehicles and air units. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, officers drove across the City of Atlanta to the Southside area where units from East Point Police and South Fulton Police began tracking the vehicle. The vehicle was located a short time later at a gas station and upon officers approaching three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled. A coordinated effort by the Police units on scene led to the arrests of all three suspects.

This vehicle was stolen and driven across Atlanta and it was obvious that the suspects were about to commit other crimes using it. The cooperation and coordination between the agencies involved resulted in a quick recovery and arrests of three suspects. The Vehicle was recovered and returned to a grateful owner without any damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes E320 in February 2007 at Stone Mountain Nissan in Stone Mountain, Ga.
