LoJack System Helps the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Anderson Sheriff’s Office Recover Stolen Honda Prelude

Sometimes, the LoJack System outlast the cars in which they have been installed in. The owner of a 1992 Honda Prelude contacted the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, to report their vehicle stolen. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
After the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Computer Database, a Special Agent with the National Insurance Crime Bureau picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Officer tracked the vehicle and located it parked at a residence in Anderson, SC. Anderson County Deputies responded to the scene to make the recovery and informed the NICB Agent that the location is a known location for criminal activity. The Deputies joked that the LoJack Unit installed in the Honda was worth more than the Honda itself. In speaking with the case agent from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, it was learned that the vehicle owner was in jail at the time of the theft and it is believed that her boyfriend, traded the Honda for methamphetamine while she was in jail. The vehicle owner reported the vehicle stolen when she could not locate it when she was released from jail.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda in August 1998 at Auto Nation in Clearwater, Fl.
