The owner of this Honda contacted the Mendota Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from in front of his residence. The Mendota Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

About four hours after the LoJack was activated an uniformed patrol officer with the Mendota Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to a residential area near 4th and H Streets in northeast Mendota. The vehicle was found unoccupied and abandoned, parked on the side of the road. Surveillance was initiated for several hours but the suspects never returned. The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in June 1999 by Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance, California.
