LoJack System Helps San Luis Obispo County ATTF Recover Stolen Chevrolet Pickup

The owner of this Chevrolet Pickup contacted the Grover Beach Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The Grover Beach Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

About an hour after the LoJack was activated an investigator with, the San Luis Obispo County Auto Theft Task Force (SLOCATT) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of Broad Street and Tank Farm Road in the city of San Luis Obispo. The vehicle was found parked at the curb in an industrial area. Investigators initiated surveillance on the vehicle for a significant period of time but the suspects never returned. The vehicle was ultimately recovered, intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet in July 2001 by Enterprise Car Sales in Las Vegas, Nevada.
