The owner of a 2017 Honda Civic contacted the Richmond Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The owner advised they had parked in the street at MacDonald Avenue and 13th Street and when they returned the vehicle was gone. The Richmond Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.

Shortly after the LoJack activation, officers with the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Unit in a fixed wing aircraft were flying over the city of Vallejo when they were alerted to the stolen Honda Civic by the silent LoJack signal received with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen vehicle was tracked to a shopping center parking lot in the 700 block of Sereno Drive.  The CHP air unit maintained visual contact on the vehicle and requested Vallejo Police Department ground units.  Vallejo PD units responded and found the stolen Civic occupied by three suspects. All suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The stolen Honda Civic was recovered by Vallejo PD and the vehicle was towed and stored for safe keeping to be returned to the owner.  The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Honda Civic in August 2017, at Honda of El Cerrito, in El Cerrito, CA.
