LoJack System Helps Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota RAV4

The owner of a 2003 Toyota RAV4 contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from the front of his friend’s residence near the intersection of Sombrero and La Canada.   The owner had parked the Toyota and left the keys inside and did not lock it while he rode with his friend and went out for the night.  When he returned he found his Toyota missing so he notified the police. 

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential address near the intersection of Polaris and Iglesias.  The Toyota was parked and unoccupied so it was recovered by police and towed for safekeeping.  

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota RAV4 in July 2003 at North Hollywood Toyota, North Hollywood, California.
