The owner of a Jeep Renegade contacted the Chicago Park Police Department to report that someone had stolen his vehicle from in front of his residence on the 5400 block of North Kenmore Ave in Chicago’s Edgewater Beach neighborhood. Chicago Police after verifying facts as presented entered the Jeep into N.C.I.C. the national criminal computer database as stolen. Once entered a signal is sent to the LoJack unit concealed within the Jeep Renegade causing it to activate.

Shortly after being activated Chicago Police Department units equipped with LoJack’s Police Tracking Computers picked up the silent and directional signals being broadcast from the stolen Jeep. Chicago Police following the signals emanating from the stolen Jeep located the stolen Renegade on level four of the short term parking garage at O’Hare Airport across from terminal two. The Jeep was towed by Chicago for investigation and the owner notified of its recovery.

Due to LoJack the owner of this Jeep had his vehicle recovered hours after it was entered into N.C.I.C. as stolen. The vehicle was recovered undamaged, before it could be stripped, cloned re-tagged or used in a crime.  The LoJack was installed in the Jeep Renegade at Enterprise 15R4 in Palatine Illinois in Jan of 2017.
