LoJack System Helps Essex County Sheriff’s Department Recover a Stolen 2012 Mercedes Benz R350 Taken in Armed Carjacking

The owners of a 2012 Mercedes Benz R350 contacted the Newark Police Department to report that while he was parking his vehicle he was carjacked by a man with a gun, at the corner of 7th Street and South Street in the City of Newark.  The Newark Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2012 Mercedes Benz R350.     

A short while later officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the apartment complex on Martin Luther King Blvd in the City of Newark, where the vehicle was located parked in the lot. The vehicle was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Mercedes Benz R350 in November 2014 at Porsche of Tysons Corner, VA.
