LoJack System Helps Georgia State Patrol Recover a 2018 Toyota 4 Runner within Minutes of Activation Two in Custody

The
owners of a 2018 Toyota 4 Runner reported the theft of their Toyota to Atlanta
Police. The victim stated that she went outside to warm up her vehicle and then
went back inside the house to get her child. When she came back outside minutes
later her vehicle was gone.
Atlanta Police verified
the theft and had the vehicle information
entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated
the Silent LoJack®
System concealed in the Toyota.
Within minutes A Trooper with the Georgia State Patrol picked up the silent
LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers
(PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues
from his PTC, the Officer tracked the vehicle to an area close to where the
theft occurred. The vehicle had been pulled behind a vacant house and once the
Trooper had eyes on the vehicle he observed three suspects beginning to strip
the vehicle. Along with back up Officers he was able to arrest two of the three
suspects. One of the suspects arrested had the keys to the vehicle in his
pocket. This suspect was 13 years of age and not his first arrest for Auto
Theft. The suspect had already taken everything out of the vehicle and was in
the process of removing the lug nuts off the wheels when the Trooper arrived.
The juvenile suspect also had a large amount of jewelry in his possession. It
was later learned that the victim owned a store where this jewelry was sold. All
of her jewelry was recovered along with the vehicle.
The Toyota was recovered with no damage and returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in Nov 2017 at Toyota South dealership in Ga.
