In January 2019, the owner of a 2002 Infiniti I35 reported the vehicle stolen after it was discovered missing from their residence. The vehicle was not in driving condition at the time of the theft and had to have been towed from the scene. The owner contacted the Reidsville, NC Police Department and reported the vehicle stolen. The Reidsville Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.

After the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Computer Database, an Inspector from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Inspector tracked the vehicle and located it parked in a back parking lot of a local factory. Upon making contact with individuals at the factory, it was determined that the vehicle was involved in a marital dispute and the estranged husband had the vehicle towed to his place of employment. The vehicle owner asked the NCDMV Agent how the vehicle was located and the Agent informed him that it was tracked through the LoJack System that is installed on the Infiniti. The vehicle owner informed the Agent he did not know the vehicle had LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Infiniti in March of 2004 at CarMax in Gaithersburg, Md.
