A new car dealership contacted the El Cerrito Police Department to report that one of their vehicles, a 2017 Honda Accord, had been stolen off of their lot. The El Cerrito Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Honda Accord.

A short while after the LoJack activation, a Union City Police Officer in a marked K-9 unit was in the city of Fremont, on his way to work when he was alerted to the stolen Honda by means of the silent LoJack signal from the stolen vehicle. The officer tracked stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen vehicle was tracked to a residential area in a condominium complex and was found parked and unoccupied in a guest parking space on Kerry Common at Killorglin Common.  Surveillance was established on the vehicle, but the suspect did not return to the vehicle.

The stolen Honda Accord was recovered by Union City PD and the vehicle was towed/stored to be returned to the dealership. The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Honda Accord in January of 2019, at Honda of El Cerrito, in El Cerrito, Ca.
