LoJack System Helps Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Recover Stolen Cadillac Escalade within Minutes of Activation One in Custody

The owner of a 2002 Cadillac Escalade contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from his residence in the 1600 block of Mary Jane. The owner had parked and locked his Cadillac in front of his residence and went inside for the night. In the morning he found it missing. His son then informed him that he owed money to someone and that because he couldn’t pay; the person he owed money to took the Cadillac instead. The owner then notified police. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac.
12 minutes later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Cadillac with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the intersection of Tonopah and Jefferson where they found the Cadillac occupied by a male. The officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the Cadillac and take the suspect into custody without incident. The son identified the male as the person who he owed money to and that took the Cadillac. The suspect was then arrested and taken to jail. The Cadillac was recovered and towed for safekeeping.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade in July of 2009 and was sold through Direct Sales.
