LoJack System Helps Pima County Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Ford F-250

The owners of a used car sales business contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department to report that a 2004 Ford F-250 had been stolen off the lot.  The Ford was last seen two days prior to the report. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later the air unit and deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air unit and deputies tracked the vehicle to the area of Benson Highway and Campbell Avenue in the Tucson area.

The stolen Ford F-250 was located unoccupied in a mobile home park.  Several individuals were observed in the area and questioned.  Deputies developed an investigative lead on a possible suspect during the interviews.  The Ford was recovered in good condition and processed for evidence.  The vehicle was released back to employees of the used car lot.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-250 in December 2008, at AutoNation Ford Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Arizona.
