LoJack System Helps Fresno HEAT ATTF Recover 2015 John Deere Backhoe and Identify the Thief

The foreman of a local construction company contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that a John Deere Backhoe Loader had been stolen from a jobsite in southwest Fresno. The Fresno Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the John Deere.

Several hours after the LoJack was activated, an investigator with Fresno HEAT, the Fresno County Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen John Deere with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the equipment to the vicinity of Muscat and Marks in southwest Fresno. The equipment was located parked in a field adjacent to a residence in a rural area. Investigators made contact with people at the residence and were able to identify the person that had brought the equipment to the residence. The adult male suspect is currently being sought in connection with the theft. The equipment was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in February 2015 by the California Commercial Sales Department.
