LoJack System Helps Madera Police Department Recover 2018 Hyundai Accent within Minutes and Arrest the Thief

The owner of this Hyundai contacted the Madera Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence by a known suspect. The Madera Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai.
Less than ten minutes after the LoJack was activated, officers with the Madera Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of the 300 block of I Street in central Madera. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of an apartment complex, occupied by several adult males. After detaining the suspects officers identified the driver as the person that had stolen the vehicle. He was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. The other male’s identities were verified and they were released. The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.
The LoJack® System was installed in this Hyundai in May of 2018 by Selma Hyundai in Selma, California. Selma Hyundai installs LoJack tracking devices on the vehicles at their dealership as part of a preinstall program. The program enhances sales and also provides an added measure of asset security while vehicles are on the dealership lot as well as for the customer after the vehicle has been sold.
