LoJack System Helps Smyrna Police recover 2016 Lexus RX4

The owners of a 2016 Lexus RX4 reported to Atlanta Police that their vehicle had been stolen out of their driveway during the evening of 01-29-17. Once Atlanta Police verified the theft they entered the vehicle’s information into the NCIC system which automatically activated the hidden LoJack in the Lexus.
There was no activity from the LoJack Tracker in the vehicle at the time it was reported stolen. Recently an audit of outstanding stolen vehicles was conducted and signals sent out to them again by LoJack employees. This re-activated the hidden tracker that had been installed in the Lexus RX4. A short time later an Officer from the Smyrna Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in their vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTC’s they were able to locate the Lexus being driven by two individuals. The vehicle had a different Vehicle Identification number affixed to the dash that did not match stolen vehicle. After on scene investigation it was learned that the vehicle identification number had been altered and switched with another identifying number. The vehicle was seized by Smyrna Police and suspects detained pending further investigation. The vehicle was impounded and returned to its rightful owners.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus in February 2016 at Hennessey Lexus in Atlanta.
