The owners of a 2004 Toyota Sienna contacted the Dayton Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen overnight from their residence. Dayton Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later a troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex parking lot in Dayton.  It appeared that the stolen vehicle had been parked to allow it to “cool off”.

Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Toyota was impounded and later returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Sienna in July 2004 at Toyota of Turnersville, Turnersville, New Jersey.
