The owners of a 2018 Dodge Charger contacted the LAPD S/E Division to report that their vehicle had been stolen during a residential Burglary. The vehicle was taken with its key fob which had been stolen during the burglary.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Charger.

A short while later, officers from LAPD 77th St overheard a broad cast indication that there was a suspicious vehicle in their area that might be a stolen car.  At the same time officers were leaving the station and picked up the up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge Charger with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 73rd and Figueroa locating the vehicle containing one male driver.  Back up arrived and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The field investigation connected the suspect to another that had apparently taken the key fob during the Burglary.  The second suspect was identified. The driver suspect was transported to the 77th St Jail and booked for the Residential Burglary and the theft of the vehicle. Case referred to LAPD S/E detectives.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Charger at Champion Dodge in March 2018.
