On June 1, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Cadillac Escalade called the Grapevine Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from an apartment complex in Grapevine. After verifying the theft, Grapevine officers had the Cadillac’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the Arlington Police Department picked up the Cadillac’s silent LoJack signals on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Trackers, the officers tracked the equipment to an apartment complex, where they located the stolen Cadillac abandoned in the parking lot. The Cadillac was also equipped with a GPS unit, but it was the LoJack transponder that enabled the quick recovery of the vehicle. The Cadillac was recovered without any damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade in March of 2007.
