LoJack System Helps ACTION Task Force Recover Stolen Volvo XC90

The owners of a 2004 Volvo XC90 contacted the Detroit Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen overnight from their residence. Detroit Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volvo.
A short while later troopers from the Michigan State Police and detectives from the ACTION Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volvo with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the vehicle to a residential area in the City of Detroit.
It was determined that the signal was coming from inside a garage. The resident of the property gave consent to search the garage and at that time the detectives located the stolen Volvo. Because of the quick recovery the suspects were unable to strip the vehicle or use it to commit additional crimes. The vehicle was impounded and information obtained from the resident will be used to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect involved with this crime. This matter is to be further investigated by the ACTION Task Force.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Volvo XC90 in April 2004 at Volvo of Orange County, Santa Ana, California.
