The owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry contacted the Chicago Police Department to report their vehicle stolen from in front of their residence. The theft occurred on the 1400 block of West Byron Avenue in Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood. Chicago Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.

Twelve minutes later a Chicago Police squad car from Chicago’s Town Hall District equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Toyota. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen Camry was located parked and unoccupied on the 4000 block of North Ashland Avenue in Chicago’s Graceland West neighborhood. The owner responded to scene and took possession of his stolen vehicle.

Police recovered the vehicle undamaged and returned it to owner. The owner unaware he had LoJack was pleased at the quick recovery and return of his vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in March 2010 at Herb Chambers in Boston MA..
