The owner of a 2017 Volkswagen Passat contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of Collington Avenue in the Canton area of Baltimore City, Maryland. Baltimore City Police Radio dispatched an officer from the 2nd District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the officer was unable to locate the vehicle, a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Volkswagen Passat.

A short while later detectives from Regional Auto Theft Team picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen 2017 Volkswagen Passat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the vehicle to 100 N. Potomac Street in the Patterson Park area of Baltimore City, Maryland. At this location, officers observed the vehicle being operated by the theft suspect. A felony vehicle stop was performed and the driver arrested. The undamaged vehicle was recovered by detectives and the owner notified.

Approximate value of vehicle: $15,125.00

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Volkswagen Passat in March, 2017 at Russel Volkswagen in Baltimore, Maryland.
