Brand-New LoJack System Enables Quick Recovery of Audi Q-5 Stolen in Bethesda

On the morning of May 31, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Audi Q-5 contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from the 5800 block of Augusta Lane in the Bethesda area. After verifying the theft, Montgomery County officers had the Audi’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, detectives assigned to the Montgomery County Auto Theft Unit began to receive the Audi’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Trackers, the detectives tracked the Audi to the 2600 Block Naylor Road SE in Washington, DC. After a brief surveillance, detectives recovered the undamaged vehicle, processed it for evidence and returned it to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Audi at the new car buyer’s request earlier that month.
