The owner of this Nissan contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from his residence. The Fresno Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

About an hour after the LoJack was activated, an officer with the Fresno Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of Pontiac and Fine avenues in central Fresno. Investigators from CCATT, the Fresno Police Department Auto Theft Task Force converged on the area, located the vehicle and initiated surveillance. Several hours later investigators observed two suspects enter the vehicle and drive away. Investigators followed the vehicle and initiated a high risk stop. An adult male and female were removed from the vehicle and detained. The male driver, a validated street gang member was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. He was also found to have an outstanding domestic violence warrant. The female passenger was found to be wanted on a warrant for assaulting a peace officer. She was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan in December of 2006 by Metro Nissan in Redlands, California.
