The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen without the keys from the parking lot of their apartment complex.

The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Twenty-seven minutes later, the air unit and officers from the Phoenix Police Department and officers from the Glendale Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 43rd Avenue, between Orangewood Avenue and Glendale Avenue in Glendale, AZ.

The stolen Honda was located unoccupied in a mobile home park about two miles from where it was stolen from.  The Glendale Police Department auto theft detectives took disposition of the case and recovered the stolen Honda in good condition.  During the investigation three additional stolen vehicles; a 1994 Honda, a 1996 Honda, and a 1997 Honda, were all located and recovered at this location.   The 1994 Honda contained a wedding dress and seamstress equipment when it was stolen.  The wedding dress was not located in the stolen vehicle when it was recovered.  The four stolen vehicles were processed for evidence and impounded for safe keeping.  The vehicles were later released to the owners in good condition.

The Glendale Police Department detectives have identified a possible suspect and are following up on investigative leads.

Collateral recovery value: $10,000.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in February 1996 at Herb Chambers Honda, Burlington, Massachusetts.
