A car dealership contacted the San Leandro Police Department to report that one their used vehicles had been stolen.  The dealership advised the vehicle, a 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8, was taken after a male subject took the vehicle on a test drive. The suspect took off with the vehicle after returning to the dealership and the salesperson got out of the car.  The San Leandro Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2013 Dodge SRT8.
A short time later, an officer with the Dublin Police Department was alerted to the stolen Dodge Challenger by means of the silent LoJack signal from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen vehicle was tracked and was found parked unoccupied in a commercial parking lot in the 4900 block of Dublin Boulevard.  Investigators with the Alameda Country Regional Auto Theft Task Force responded and established surveillance on the vehicle. A male subject entered the vehicle, drove to a department store in the city of Tracy and went inside. When the suspect returned to the vehicle, he was taken into custody. The suspect matched the description of the original theft suspect from the dealership, as he had a distinct tattoo of pink lips on his neck.  The suspect also had an outstanding felony warrant for identity theft.

The stolen Dodge Challenger was recovered by the task force and was towed/stored to be returned to the dealership.   The LoJack® System was installed in the 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 for a prior customer in December of 2013, at Tustin Dodge, in Tustin, CA.
