A commercial home improvement store contacted the San Jose Police Department to report that one of their rental vehicles had been stolen. The store advised the vehicle, a 2018 Ford F250 pickup, was rented on August 22nd 2018, but was never returned. Numerous attempts to contact the “renter” were unsuccessful.

The Santa Jose Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2018 Ford F250 pickup.

A short time after the LoJack activation, officers from the Santa Clara Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford F250 with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen truck to a residential area in the 700 block of Catala Court, where the vehicle was found unoccupied, parked at the curb.

The stolen Ford F250 was recovered by the Santa Clara Police Department and the vehicle was towed/stored for safe keeping to be returned back to the business. Investigation as to the identity of the suspect is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2018 Ford F250 for the commercial customer in May of 2018.
